Formula 1 live ticker: Mercedes performance in Spielberg "unacceptable"

Team boss Toto Wolff himself said this after George Russell finished more than a minute behind race winner Lando Norris at the finish line on Sunday. "There's no excuse for that," Wolff told Sky . "You can't be that far behind," he said, not allowing the higher temperatures, which Mercedes always struggles with, to serve as an excuse. "Everyone else can handle it better," he pointed out. "It's incomprehensible and also unacceptable that a team of our size simply has such outliers." After all, Russell had won the race a week earlier in Canada. "I mean, it happens to the others too. You see how quickly a Red Bull or a Ferrari goes backwards when it's very cold. But nevertheless, you can't accept it," Wolff clarified.
"The weather shouldn't always be the excuse," he emphasizes.
