BMW: Model update measures for summer 2025

BMW: Model update measures for summer 2025

It's almost become a tradition: every quarter, BMW makes small changes to its model range. Not major facelifts (that would be the LCI), but rather different colors, more features, or slightly more power. What's new for summer 2025?

New exterior and interior equipment options will be available for the X1 , X2, and 2 Series Active Tourer starting in summer 2025. The standard equipment of the 1 Series and 2 Series Gran Coupé now includes heated front seats. For the first time, customers can choose a second voice for the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant.

New top model for the i4

The BMW i4 eDrive35, like the i4 eDrive40, will benefit from the use of silicon carbide semiconductor components in power electronics (SIC inverters) starting in July 2025. According to BMW, these reduce fuel consumption by around 4.5 percent and increase the range by up to 22 kilometers (depending on the model and equipment in the individually configured vehicle).

The new top-of-the-line model of the all-electric BMW i4, the BMW i4 M60 xDrive (range: 433 km), will be available from July 2025. Compared to its predecessor, it offers an increase in system output of 42 kW/57 hp to 442 kW/601 hp. The new BMW i4 M60 xDrive accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds.

Thanks to an improved setup process, the BMW Digital Key will become the access point of choice for numerous BMW models in the future. Following the iX in March 2025, the 1 Series, 2 Series Gran Coupé, 2 Series Active Tourer, X1, X2, 5 Series , M5, and 7 Series will follow in July 2025. The X5, X6, X7, and XM models will follow in August 2025.

The package includes a physical key, the Setup Card, and the Service Card. With the new Setup Card, setting up the BMW Digital Key on smartphones from all major manufacturers is easier than ever. Simply hold the card against your phone or scan the QR code on the back.

The next step takes you directly to the My BMW app. After authorization via the Setup Card, the BMW ID is linked to the vehicle, and then the BMW Digital Key is activated. Once activated, the Digital Key can be easily shared with other people via text message. Activation is possible on up to 18 devices. Different roles and permissions can be configured for the vehicle.

A particularly useful feature for novice drivers, for example, is the ability to limit acceleration and top speed. Should a physical key ever need to be handed over, for example, at the workshop or in the event of a breakdown, the new service card can be used. This should always be carried deactivated so that it can be activated as a full-fledged key with a single click on the central display.

Breakdown kit in series

The tire repair kit will be standard equipment on various BMW models starting in summer 2025. It is available in the 1 Series, the 2 Series Gran Coupé, the 2 Series Coupé, the 3 Series , the 4 Series Coupé , and the 4 Series Convertible . The Tire Repair Kit Plus is available as an optional extra for the X3 (not the X3 30e xDrive).

BMW Individual special paint finishes are a particularly popular way to add a personal touch to your BMW. Special paint finishes that were previously only available through the BMW Individual Visualizer can now be selected directly in the BMW Configurator. This applies to all BMW models except the 2 Series Active Tourer.

Longer warranty for electric car batteries

Since April 1, 2025, BMW has offered a voluntary warranty worldwide for high-voltage batteries in all-electric BMW models. The new policy applies to vehicles up to eight years old or a maximum mileage of 160,000 kilometers. If the capacity of the high-voltage battery falls below 70 percent during the warranty period, BMW will repair the excessive capacity loss free of charge for customers. The policy applies to all new and used all-electric BMW models since April 1, 2025.

The M Technik Package II, optionally available for the M135 xDrive and the M235 xDrive Gran Coupé, now includes M seat belts with woven M colors.

2 Series Active Tourer, X1 and X2 with new colors

Starting in summer 2025, additional exterior and interior customization options will be available for the 2 Series Active Tourer, X1, and X2. New exterior paint finishes include Fire Red metallic and Night Dusk Blue for the 2 Series Active Tourer, and Dune Grey metallic for the X2.

All three colors are also available for the X1, along with BMW Individual Frozen Portimao Blue metallic. For a more personalized interior design, the Veganza perforated trim is now available in Castanea, Smoke White, and Atlas Grey/Smoke White for the 2 Series Active Tourer and the X2.

The X1 is available in Castanea and Smoke White. The Econeer Bicolor Blue fabric trim will be available exclusively in conjunction with the front sports seats starting in summer 2025. Another new option is the brushed Alu Shadow interior trim.

Extended offers for BMW 7 Series, BMW X3 and BMW iX

Contrast-print laminated safety glass is now standard on the 7 Series and i7. Comfort glazing, solar control glazing, and the thermal comfort package will also be available individually as optional extras for the first time starting in summer 2025, allowing for even more targeted customization.

New to the X3's equipment lineup is the M door sill guard. It's available with the M Sport package, M Sport package Pro, and the X3 M50 xDrive. BMW Individual Frozen Pure Grey metallic will be available as a new exterior paint finish for the iX starting in summer 2025.

Ultimate Package for X5 M Competition and X6 M Competition

The Ultimate Package, a particularly comprehensive equipment package, is now available for the BMW X5 M Competition and X6 M Competition . In addition to the M Carbon engine cover, this includes M Carbon mirror caps, the Sky Lounge panoramic glass roof, active seat ventilation and a massage function in the front, and the Comfort Package.

The Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System also ensures an outstanding sound experience. Another component of the package is the M Driver's Package, which increases the top speed to 290 km/h (180 mph). The BMW X6 M Competition also features an exclusive M carbon fiber rear spoiler.

BMW iDrive with extensive improvements

Among the numerous innovations in the area of digital services is the further development of the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant in the BMW Operating System 9. It now also offers natural speech understanding in the respective national language for vehicles in Turkey, Greece and Hungary.

In the 1 Series, 2 Series Gran Coupé, and X3, customers in numerous countries can now connect their Amazon Alexa account with the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. This allows them to intuitively select their music in the car by saying "Hey BMW" – thanks to the Alexa connection in the background, just like at home. A second voice for the assistant is also available. Further improvements in speech understanding and faster processing speed should contribute to a more harmonious overall experience.

Starting in summer 2025, BMW Digital Premium will offer the option of using the Zoom app on the curved display while the vehicle is stationary via BMW Operating System 9, depending on country availability. While driving, the app automatically mutes the video to avoid distractions.

Upgrade for Parking Assistant Plus

Starting in July 2025, the functionality of Parking Assistant Plus will be expanded for many BMW models. It can now orient itself along parking lines, improving both the detection of parking spaces and enabling precise parking positioning. Previously, this feature was only available in Parking Assistant Professional.

BMW Maps user interface improvements

BMW Maps offers intuitive destination entry and intelligent route guidance and will receive several user interface improvements starting in summer 2025. For faster access to frequently used functions, "Home" and "Work" are available as Direct Touch buttons in the BMW Maps QuickSelect widget in the home view of the Control Display.
