Which models are eligible for SCT-free vehicle purchases? Fiat, Renault, TOGG, and other domestic vehicles

The long-discussed scrap vehicle incentive and Special Consumption Tax (SCT) exemption in Turkey remains a hot topic. The bill, submitted to the Turkish Grand National Assembly, aims to allow owners of vehicles aged 20 and older to scrap their old vehicles and purchase new, domestically produced vehicles without paying SCT .

DID IT PASS BY PARLIAMENT?

It's worth noting that the proposed law hasn't yet been enacted . If passed, hundreds of thousands of vehicle owners will be able to purchase brand-new models from domestic brands like Fiat, Renault, and TOGG at more affordable prices, with SCT exemptions .

CONDITIONS FOR PURCHASING A VEHICLE WITHOUT SCT

According to the details of the proposal, the criteria for benefiting from the Special Consumption Tax exemption are as follows:

• Vehicle age: Vehicles that are 20 years or older must be scrapped.

• Domestic production requirement: The new vehicle to be purchased must have at least 40% domestic production rate.

• Engine displacement limit: Only vehicles with an engine displacement of 1600 cc and below will be included in the scope.

• Scrap delivery: The old vehicle must be completely withdrawn from traffic and scrapped.

• Institutions not covered by this incentive: It is stated that public institutions, except municipalities, cannot benefit from this incentive.

In addition, the current regulation for disabled individuals to purchase vehicles exempt from Special Consumption Tax (SCT) continues. Those with a disability rating of 90% or higher can purchase a vehicle exempt from Special Consumption Tax (SCT) every 10 years. Those with a rating below 90% are required to have special equipment.
