Russell: 'We are at the mercy of the weather every week'

Speaking after Friday practice at Silverstone, Mercedes driver George Russell said the hot weather had a negative impact on car performance and that the team was still too dependent on the weather.
“As of today, I don’t feel that close,” Russell said when asked how close he felt at the end of the day to competing with the frontrunners.
The young pilot, who stated that the runway temperature reaching 40 degrees decreases their performance, said, "We are at the mercy of the weather conditions every week. This situation is not sustainable, especially as we enter the summer months."
Emphasizing that Mercedes is working hard to solve this problem, Russell said: "Our luck could change a little bit for the rest of this weekend. The car will come our way as the weather cools down."
“But as I said, we shouldn’t depend on the weather. We seem to be completely dependent on it right now,” he said.
