Radical decision from the automobile giant! He said yes, but it was officially cancelled

Radical decision from the automobile giant! He said yes, but it was officially cancelled

One of the most significant developments in the automotive world recently came from Germany-based Opel. Following Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, and Audi, Opel has revised its plan to transition to fully electric vehicles. Operating under the Stellantis umbrella, the brand has decided to offer customers a variety of powertrain options rather than solely focusing on electric models.

Opel announced in 2021 that it would sell only electric vehicles in Europe starting in 2028. However, the brand backtracked on this goal and announced that it would continue to produce electric, hybrid, and internal combustion engine models simultaneously. Company officials emphasized that customer demand would be the driving force, saying, "If the market dictates a different need, this date doesn't have to be definitive."

Despite this, Opel maintains its commitment to offering an electric version of every model. While electrified models are prioritized in markets like Germany, the UK, and France, hybrid and gasoline options will also be available in regions where demand is more limited.

Opel, one of Europe's most popular brands, and its sister brand Vauxhall maintain their leadership in Germany and the UK, particularly in the B hatchback segment. Continuing its growth with strengthened product strategies, the brand now embraces a flexible and versatile automotive vision rather than an all-electric future.
