Norris: 'Britain's number one is clearly Hamilton'

The McLaren driver is second in the drivers' standings with 201 points, 15 points behind teammate Oscar Piastri. Fellow Britons George Russell is fourth, Alex Albon eighth and Ollie Bearman 18th.
When asked about this issue at the press conference, Norris responded with the following words: "So theoretically... I won't even say that. I think I have the best chance of winning the race. Of course, I am one of the names fighting for the championship this season."
"Am I Britain's No 1? I don't know. It depends how much you care about history. If you take history into account, Lewis is still far and away at the top. He's got more race wins, more pole positions, more championships than anyone else."
Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton has finished on the podium at Silverstone every year since 2014, with nine wins including last year.
Norris continued: “Maybe I’m the favourite this weekend among the Brits, but I don’t know. It’s your job to put those labels on, not mine. It would be nice, of course. That’s my goal. Like any athlete… tennis, golf, everybody wants to be No 1. But I can’t say I’ve proven it yet. I’m working on it.”
Norris said he arrived at Silverstone in high spirits after his win in Austria: “I’m very excited about everything. Every day is a day I look forward to. Driving on the track is still the best part but even this morning I’ve been involved in some of the events. We were in Trafalgar Square yesterday, it was very special. I went to the stands this morning too.”
"I have a lot to look forward to. It's all positive, distracting but in a positive way. So I feel good. It's also nice to come from Austria with a win like this. I'm ready."
