It's taken China by storm, now it's Europe's turn! Neither BYD nor Tesla can stop its rise

Rapidly growing Chinese brands with affordable electric and hybrid vehicles continue to shift the balance in the automotive industry.

Until a few years ago, Tesla led the electric car market, but the rise of Chinese manufacturers and boycotts have diminished the company's share. Smartphone giant Xiaomi broke sales records in China, where it entered the automotive market with its SU7 SUV, surpassing Tesla. The company then strengthened its position with the SU7 Ultra and YU7 models, and now has turned its attention to Europe.

IN EUROPE IN 2027

Xiaomi President Lu Weibing announced that they will enter the European market in 2027, emphasizing that the company will compete with strong rivals like Tesla and BYD. Having reached 157,000 sales in the first half of 2025, the company aims to maintain its momentum by increasing its production capacity. It's rumored that the brand won't enter Europe with just one model; the YU9 model may be offered alongside the SU7 and YU7.
