The Chinese automaker will start car production at its new factory in Turkey, which also has lower labor costs, earlier than expected and will significantly exceed announced production plans, Reuters reported, citing two sources. Shifting production from Hungary to Turkey would be a setback for the European Union, which had hoped to attract Chinese investment and well-paying manufacturing jobs with tariffs on EVs in China.
