Chinese automakers are taking a leading position in offering zero-emission electric vehicles (ZEVs) – accounting for more than half of global EV sales.
A study by the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) shows that Chinese manufacturers account for more than 11 million electric vehicles sold - that is, more than half of global EV sales.
According to Reuters, in 2025, for the first time, there was a month with more than one million Chinese electric vehicles sold - not only in the domestic market, but also thanks to exports.
China’s automakers remain in the top five for ZEV coverage and five are in the top six for electric vehicle (EV) sales share. Last year, BYD surpassed Tesla in battery electric vehicle sales for the first time.
There was also an increase in combined sales of battery-powered vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrids - 47 percent compared to the previous year.
