The nightmare repeats itself: a new boat catches fire with more than 700 electric cars.

The world of electric cars suffered another setback a few days ago. The Morning Midas, sailing from China to Mexico with more than 3,000 vehicles in its cargo hold, was completely immobile and adrift after a fire broke out en route.
The fire started this past Tuesday, June 3, in the Western Aleutians, Alaska, specifically about 300 miles south of Adak Island, for reasons that are currently unknown, although the result has been completely devastating.
A real catastropheAccording to data from the U.S. Coast Guard, the ship was carrying approximately 3,159 cars, 681 of which were hybrids and 65 were pure electric , a significant figure that takes on even more significance when you fully understand that their lithium-ion batteries can become real time bombs.
A few years ago, in 2022, a similar scenario occurred with the Felicity Ace , which ended up in the depths of the ocean along with countless high-end vehicles , including several examples and models from the famous and luxurious Lamborghini company.
How many workers have been affected?Fortunately, all 22 crew members were safely evacuated in time by the Cosco Hellas, which was the first vessel, along with two others, to come to the rescue to save the lives of the Morning Midas workers.
Meanwhile, the Coast Guard has been responsible for carrying out all rescue operations in the area where the vessel is being held and is also working with the company that owns the ship, Zodiaco Maritime, to try to extinguish the fire as quickly as possible.
Some of the crew members opened up after the accident, saying they are "very grateful" for the "selfless actions" of the vessels that came to their aid: "We are grateful for the selfless actions of the three nearby vessels that assisted in the response, and the crew of the Cosco Hellas, who helped save more than 20 lives."
