The location of the new DGT radars in the Canary Islands, operational since September 1st.

The General Directorate of Traffic identifies excessive speed on the roads as one of the main causes of traffic accidents in our country. Therefore, in order to reduce accidents and mortality, a total of 122 fixed and section radars will be installed during 2025.
These devices have been activated in several batches, the latest of which was on August 1, when 32 went into operation in several autonomous communities, including the Canary Islands, with up to two new fixed radars located on the island of Tenerife.
What is the location of these radars? The first of them is located at km 1.11, in the ascending direction of the TF-2 , which is characterized by being a road with several lanes in each direction and which connects the southern Tenerife highway (TF-1) with the northern highway (TF-5). In addition, it has an average daily traffic of more than 75,000 vehicles .
The second is located at kilometer 2.9 downstream of the TF-652, a secondary road that connects the towns of Las Charifas and Las Galletas, within the municipality of Arona. Finally, both radars will begin issuing fines to drivers who violate their speed limits starting September 1st .
What other radars has the DGT activated in the Canary Islands in 2025?On March 24, the General Directorate of Traffic also launched three fixed devices on the island of Tenerife , and their locations are as follows:
- Km 49.400 of the TF-5 at the height of Los Realejos.
- Km 9 of the TF-66 in Arona.
- Km 11,240 of the TF-65.
Last July, the European Motorists' Association (AEA) published lists of the DGT agencies that issued the most fines last year and classified them by autonomous community. In the Canary Islands, these were the five most punishable :
- Km 20 of the LZ-67 (Las Palmas), 25,375 complaints.
- Km 42 of the GC-1 (Las Palmas), 11,403 complaints.
- Km 0 of the TF-13 (Tenerife), 9,491 complaints.
- Km 59 of the TF-1 (Tenerife), 5,943 complaints.
- Km 16 of the LZ-67 (Las Palmas), 5,631 complaints.
