The compact urban bike that seeks to mark the future of the sector

What is the future of urban mobility? Is it the electric bike, the car, or another type of sustainable vehicle? The designers, engineers, and developers at the leading cycling brand Canyon have been working hard in recent years to put their vision of the future of urban mobility into practice in their new offerings.

Its latest invention is called the Mpact, and it's truly striking because it's unlike any of the company's previous bikes. It's a distinctive electric bike with a striking angular aesthetic that aims to express what the future of urban mobility will look like from Canyon's perspective.

To begin with, what sets this revolutionary electric bike apart from other two-wheelers is its frame design, which deviates from the traditional diamond-shaped design found on most bicycles. The exoskeleton-like structure of this offering is made from recycled aluminum and conceals both the wiring and other components.

Sustainable development The Mpact reduces CO2 emissions by 55% thanks to the use of recycled materials.

According to the brand, the Mpact reduces CO2 emissions by 55% in its production thanks to the use of recycled materials and sustainable components. The enormous number of holes and bolts adorning its structure is striking. They serve not only an aesthetic purpose but also a functional one, as countless modular accessories can be fitted into them to transform the bike into whatever you want.

It's not foldable like other urban bikes, but it has a unique steering column and ideal geometry for this type of travel. The aerodynamic, removable wheels and the bike's compact size, with a fairly low center of gravity, make it an interesting option for the city.

The Mpact can carry cargo thanks to a modular front rack and another one at the rear. The battery is partially hidden in the top tube section of the frame and can only be accessed by first removing the seat post.

Design detail Much of the braking system is camouflaged to offer a more attractive aesthetic.

The frame also houses the motor and transfers its power to the bottom bracket and, ultimately, to the rear wheel. It features a classic chain and derailleur setup, and another configuration with a belt and an internally shifted hub, hidden behind the rear wheel hubcap.

The Mpact brakes are Canyon GP0404s, but only the levers are visible, not the rest of the system, which remains camouflaged. As this is a recently presented prototype, details about the price or other components are still unknown. We'll have to wait and see. For now, we can enjoy Canyon's new vision of urban mobility of the future in the video accompanying this news.
