The Basque Country's 'troublesome' roundabout: a driving instructor explains why it's so dangerous.

Spain built its first roundabout in 1976. It was the Mallorcan municipality of Palmonova that debuted it. The rest of the country has seen how roundabouts have gradually filled its roads and have increased significantly. In fact, according to data from the Directorate General of Traffic (DGT) , the number rises to 80,000 . This design originated in France .
The main purpose of roundabouts is to facilitate traffic flow at intersections in an attempt to reduce accidents. Vehicles must reduce their speed when entering them. However, this isn't always the case. There is one roundabout that is causing a real headache because numerous crashes and accidents are occurring there.
A driving instructor reported on this problem in one of his TikTok videos. The reason why this roundabout in Vizcaya is so dangerous can be seen on the Autoescuela Mikel account.
The problem with this roundabout in Vizcaya"You've asked me to talk about this roundabout because it's causing accidents and will continue to cause them ," the professor stated at the beginning of the video. It's a roundabout located between the towns of Galdacano and Echévarri .
The problem he identified is that "a two-lane road is coming toward this roundabout, and the roundabout also has two lanes , even though there's no line separating the lanes ," he explained. The professor went on to explain that "the right lane has to enter the right lane, and the person in the left lane will have to enter the roundabout in the left lane."
So far, everything is normal. Now comes the problem. "If you notice, there's a new road that also enters the roundabout from the right, so you should also enter the roundabout in the right lane," he stated. This means two users must enter the roundabout in the right lane .
There's a yield sign in every lane, but how would the issue be resolved? The driving instructor said, "If we put a stop sign on the rightmost driver, who has the best view of everything, then there wouldn't be two users able to enter the right lane at the same time, and the problems would be over."
