Seat reviews its 75-year history with the models that have shaped the lives of several generations of Spaniards.

This week, Automobile Barcelona is being the great automotive event, a celebration that allows visitors to discover new developments that they see for the first time. It's also a great opportunity to learn about new technologies, market trends, connectivity, and autonomous driving. It is, indeed, a very comprehensive show. But none of this would make sense without learning about the history of brands that have contributed to the mobility of our society for decades. This is the case with Seat, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year.

The Seat history exhibition is located in the popular Plaça de l'Univers, next to the current Seat and Cupra ranges. This interesting and invaluable retrospective exhibition reviews the company's history through 75 iconic cars. Visitors can enjoy a selection of models that have marked each era of the brand's history: from the first vehicle produced in 1953, the Seat 1400, to the Cupra Raval, the 100% electric model that will begin production in Martorell in 2026, including iconic models such as the 600 or the popular Ibiza and Leon, as well as many other models of the 77 produced by the company since its founding in 1950.

“It's a unique opportunity to see what Seat has meant throughout its 75-year history,” explains Isidre López, head of Historic Seat since 2010. Laura Carnicero, Executive Vice President of People and Organization at Seat, explains that “people are the foundation of the company's success and its two brands, Seat and Cupra. They are the ones who have brought us here, and we want to recognize and thank them for their efforts over these 75 years.”

The exhibition brings together a selection of some of the most iconic models. Highlights include, of course, the iconic Seat 600, the car that put Spain on wheels; the Seat 124, which marked the production of the millionth vehicle; and the Seat 127, a true bestseller of the 1970s. Also included are the Seat 1200 Sport, known as "Bocanegra," the first model developed entirely at the Martorell Technical Center; the Ronda and Málaga, pioneers in the tradition of naming models after Spanish cities; as well as the Panda and the popular Ibiza and León, which celebrated their 40th and 25th anniversaries in 2024, respectively.

Additionally, you can see interesting exhibits such as the innovative Toledo Electric, which was part of the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games, along with a prominent representation of the company's sporting history, including several world-champion vehicles. Also on display are models from Cupra's current and future range, including the Tavascan, the brand's first 100% electric SUV coupé; the Terramar, an electrified sports SUV; and the upcoming Cupra Raval.

Movie Machines is the name given to the immersive show that can be seen these days in Hall 8 of Fira de Barcelona, in Automobile. It's not every day that we get the chance to see the De Lorean from Back to the Future , the iconic Aston Martin DB5 from James Bond, the 1949 Mercury from Grease , the Cadillac Miller Meteor Sentinel Ecto 1 from Ghostbusters or the 1969 Mini Cooper S from the original The Italian Job .

Cars, all of them, that have been the protagonists of incredible stories and that somehow transformed Hollywood with stories that have remained etched in our memories.

The show also features a large panoramic LED screen divided into three sections: a 13-meter central section and two 6.5-meter wings facing the center of the room. The screen is 7 meters high and raised 1 meter from the floor. The idea is to offer images with laser lights, a powerful sound system, and effects generated by smoke machines. A spectacular projection with references to legendary and unforgettable films.
