Overtaking between trucks is prohibited: the road that limits this maneuver in certain circumstances

In Spain, as on other European roads, it's common to see hundreds of trucks moving daily to transport their loads to their destinations. Under normal conditions, and considering they can reach a maximum speed of 90 kilometers per hour, they tend to be grouped together on the road and are often the culprits behind the notorious traffic jams.

This situation, at first glance, is usually uncomfortable for a large number of drivers who encounter these 'monsters' of the road during their journey, and who always try to overcome them safely and in the shortest possible time to avoid, on the one hand, traffic jams , and to shake off all the pressure of overtaking a vehicle much larger and more powerful than a passenger car.

Moments of tension

However, for some users, the tense moment of overtaking a truck on the road is no match for having to wait and watch as one truck overtakes another on highways or motorways . This situation, in principle, usually lasts a few minutes because both vehicles are traveling at a very similar speed, which means they will cause a certain amount of traffic to accumulate, which will have to wait patiently to initiate their respective overtaking maneuvers and continue on their way.

Therefore, and as a result of this type of scenario, work has already been done in Catalonia to prevent these overtakings on some sections of the AP-7 , where these maneuvers between trucks are prohibited under certain circumstances, such as when there is free-flowing traffic or weather conditions delay overtaking between these vehicles, among others.

They do not respect the rules

Although there are already a series of restrictions in Catalonia to prevent this practice while driving, many drivers turn a deaf ear and They decide to overtake other trucks, breaking traffic regulations, as demonstrated by the official Instagram profile @circuliperladreta.

The social media user posted a video showing three trucks in a row "moving slowly" and "taking up the entire road and causing delays." "Trucks are prohibited from using the left lane in lanes with more than two lanes in each direction. However, we sometimes encounter situations like this: three trucks moving slowly past each other, taking up the entire road and causing delays," the post reads.

This action, in accordance with traffic regulations in Catalonia, is punishable and could lead to "dangerous situations" behind the wheel, according to the user: "In addition to being a violation , these constant advances endanger traffic flow and can lead to dangerous situations."
