Oscar Piastri, frustrated with his performance

McLaren driver Oscar Piastri , who sits first in the drivers' championship, had a "frustrating" session at the Mexican Grand Prix after finishing eighth in qualifying.
The Australian admitted at the end of the test that this was not the time he was looking for and that he does not understand what is happening .
"It was tough. I felt like some of my big laps weren't bad, but they obviously didn't achieve the time I was hoping for. There are some things we need to try to understand, but it was obviously a frustrating session."
Regarding whether it was a performance issue with the McL39, Oscar assured that no, the power unit feels fine and that if anything, it was a minor performance glitch.
"I think the power unit was fine, just a small glitch in one corner on the lap, but nothing major that persisted. What was lacking was the lap time. Everything felt normal. The car will never feel great here with the altitude, but everything felt pretty normal; it's just that the lap time wasn't up to par."
Fortunately for Piastri, a penalty for Carlos Sainz puts him in seventh place on the starting grid , leaving the track clear, and he will look to take advantage of that to make up ground.
Piastri currently leads the drivers' championship with 346 points, followed by Lando Norris with 332 points, and finally, Max Verstappen with 306. With the gap between the two McLaren drivers, the lead could change hands this Sunday.
