It's official: the date on which rental electric scooters will disappear in this city

In Spain, scooter rental companies are having their operating licenses revoked in many cities, due to local councils blaming their PMV services as a danger to road safety.
For its part, Zaragoza will be the next city to withdraw the licenses of these scooter rental companies. Specifically, during the month of June, the operating contracts of Bird and Bolt, the only ones that continued offering this service, will end , and the city council has indicated that these contracts will not be renewed .
The decision was announced last February by Natalia Chueca , the city's mayor, following the fatal collision of an 81-year-old man with an electric scooter on February 3 of this year on Zaragoza's Paseo de la Independencia.
On that occasion, the mayor of Zaragoza City Council ordered the revocation and non-renewal of the licenses. According to municipal sources, Bolt currently has 600 personal mobility vehicles distributed throughout the city, while Bolt has 300.

The answer is yes, the Mobility Ordinance, which came into force last September, specified that all drivers of personal mobility vehicles must wear a helmet when riding an electric scooter .
Furthermore, you must be over 16 years old to ride one of these ATVs on the streets of Zaragoza. Finally, it's important to note that the Zaragoza Local Police can fine you for not wearing a helmet and can be as high as €150.
Since when is scooter insurance mandatory in Zaragoza?The Aragonese capital was one of the first cities in Spain to add to its Mobility Ordinance the requirement to have a civil liability insurance policy for electric scooters circulating on its streets.
This measure came into force on September 11, 2024 , when the regulations came into force. Furthermore, in case of non-compliance, the Local Police can impose a fine of up to 150 euros .
