This summer, Barcelona City Council is installing two new fixed radars on the Ronda Litoral (B-10) highway, one in each direction, at kilometer 16.1, near the Zona Franca (Free Zone). The choice of this location responds to road safety criteria and was jointly agreed upon by the Mobility Department and the City Police. An analysis of accident data has determined that this location is one of those with the highest number of accidents. For this reason, they have decided to install a speed control station there to help reduce accidents.
The new speed cameras are scheduled to begin operating in September, once they have been integrated into the municipal platform, connected to the control center, and their proper functioning has been verified.

The installation of these two new checkpoints is part of one of the improvements planned in the Barcelona City Council's radar maintenance contract, which also includes the renewal of another device on the Ronda de Dalt (B-20). According to the council, "Both the availability of new technology and the renewal of the existing one allow for greater control of speed limits, preventing violations and, ultimately, avoiding accidents and increasing road safety in the city."
Barcelona currently has a total of 67 radars, not counting the two new ones on the Ronda Litoral road, which will come into operation in September. Of these, 28 are educational —they report speeding but do not issue fines—and 39 fine drivers who exceed the speed limit, either at a kilometer point or at a speed limit. stretch.

Last year, the two devices with the most fines were the one installed at the entrance to Avenida Meridiana—where vehicles coming from the AP-7 are required to go from 80 km/h to 50 km/h—and the one located on the Ronda de Dalt in Nou Barris. Third on the list of those that detected the most violations was the one located on Vía Augusta, near the Vallvidrera tunnels.
