A 34-year-old woman dies after being hit at a pedestrian crossing in Lleida.
A 34-year-old woman who was struck by a car at a pedestrian crossing in the city of Lleida yesterday, Friday, has finally died in the city hospital where she was being treated, according to sources close to the case.
The accident occurred at around 4 p.m. yesterday at a pedestrian crossing on Paseo Onze de Setembre, in front of a primary care center, as the victim and two of her daughters, ages eight and thirteen, were crossing the street. The youngest was also injured , although less seriously, while the eldest was unharmed.
The mother and daughter were first treated by the primary care center's medical staff and later transferred by the Emergency Medical System (EMS) to the Arnau de Vilanova Hospital in Lleida. The mother was admitted to the intensive care unit in critical condition , where she ultimately died.
Several ambulances from the Medical Emergency System and patrol cars from the Guardia Urbana (City Police) responded to the scene. The driver of the vehicle tested negative for alcohol and drugs, according to Segre .
