WEC: Three Ferraris lead the way in qualifying for the 6 Hours of Spa

Ferrari dominated qualifying for the 6 Hours of Spa, the third round of the WEC (World Endurance Championship), placing its three cars in the top three spots. Calabrian Antonio Fuoco took pole position in the #50 499p with a time of 1'59''617. Fuoco was three tenths ahead of Pole Robert Kubica in the #83 499p. Fuoco and Kubica were the only ones to dip under the two-minute limit. The third fastest time was set by Antonio Giovinazzi in the #51 499p, despite a small mistake at 'Les Combes' that ruined his final lap. Peugeot placed its #94 in fourth place thanks to Belgian Stoffel Vandoorne who preceded the #12 Cadillac Jota of Alex Lynn and the #36 Alpine A424 of Mick Schumacher. The Maranello-based marque has dominated the start of the season after winning the 1,812km Qatar race in February with Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina and Nicklas Nielsen in the #50 499P and the 6 Hours of Imola last month with the #51 499P driven by Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado and Antonio Giovinazzi. “I’m really happy with this pole position,” said Antonio Fuoco, “the third in a row for Ferrari this year, which is the result of the great work done by the whole team. We managed the warm-up phase of the tyres very well to exploit the potential of the car on the flying lap. It’s nice for me to be back starting in front of everyone, but looking ahead to the race we know it will be long and complex. We expect several rivals to be very competitive on this track and will make the 6 Hours a challenge for the victory open to several manufacturers. For our crew and for Ferrari the aim is to score as many points as possible.”

Antonello Coletta, Global Head of Ferrari Endurance and Corse Clienti, commented: “The result obtained in qualifying with three Ferraris in front of everyone, and the third consecutive pole position this season, is proof of the value of our team and of the 499P, which has shown that it adapts well to this track, as has already been evident in previous years. Looking at the results of the Hyperpole, we are also aware that some of our opponents have concentrated more on race pace and preparation for the race, which will be a very complex challenge. Tomorrow, in fact, we expect several manufacturers and crews to be fighting for the top positions. As for us, as always, we will do our best to score key points for the world championship rankings”. For the Maranello team, this is the third consecutive pole position of the 2025 season: the result achieved in Belgium, in fact, follows the Hyperpoles achieved on its debut on the Lusail track and in Imola by the 499P number 51 driven by Giovinazzi. Crew number 50, on the other hand, obtained its fourth Hyperpole – after those achieved with Fuoco at Sebring and Le Mans in 2023, and at Imola in 2024. Finally, the 499P has obtained seven pole positions since its racing debut in 2023. The race will start on the circuit in the Ardennes tomorrow at 2 pm.
