Renault Twingo unveiled: here's what the latest all-electric version of the iconic city car looks like.

PARIS – Renault has gotten a taste for it: reinventing the brand's iconic models with electric power has become a tradition for the Boulogne-Billancourt team. After the R5 and R4, it's now the Twingo's turn. The small hatchback that revolutionized the city car concept in 1992 is back on the roads with the fourth-generation E-Tech Electric, ready to reignite the challenge in the A-segment. This category currently accounts for less than 5% of sales in Europe, but Renault still considers it strategic: drivers are looking for compact, agile, and above all, affordable vehicles.
In its reissue, the French best-seller promises to bring vitality to a territory abandoned by many manufacturers, discouraged by reduced margins and ever-increasing production costs.
And it's precisely here that the men from the Diamond brand have performed their first "miracle." The Twingo E-Tech Electric will have a list price of less than €20,000, while production will remain in Europe, at the Novo Mesto plant in Slovenia. In Italy, thanks to government incentives and R-Pass benefits, the price could even drop to €9,900. However, this is only the beginning, as the "little" model from across the Alps has many other assets to play to win the game. Styling is one of these: the "smiling" front with full-LED crescent-shaped headlights, the thin grille, and the rounded shapes evoke the original Twingo, but with modern proportions: 3.79 meters in length, a 2.49-meter wheelbase, and wheels up to 18 inches at the corners of the body for a more stable and dynamic image.
Inside, the spirit remains the same: a colorful, floating dashboard, the return of the iconic red hazard warning button, a dual horizontal display (7-inch instrument cluster and 10-inch central screen), and plenty of space. With five doors, two sliding rear seats, and a reclining front seat, the cabin offers modularity worthy of a higher segment and a trunk that varies from 360 to over 1,000 liters.
Also on board is the OpenR Link system with integrated Google, compatible with Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay. The virtual assistant, Reno, equipped with artificial intelligence, responds to voice commands and guides the user through vehicle management. When it comes to safety, the Twingo E-Tech Electric also offers everything you need: automatic emergency braking, lane keeping, adaptive cruise control, and automatic parking are part of a package with 24 assistance systems.
As for the mechanics, under the hood of the French car is a 60 kW (82 hp) engine that guarantees brilliant acceleration: 0-50 km/h is covered in just 3.8 seconds. The 27.5 kWh LFP (lithium-iron-phosphate) battery offers up to 263 km of range and a full charge takes 4 hours and 15 minutes with a 6.6 kW AC charger. The optional Advanced Charge pack increases this to 11 kW in AC and 50 kW in DC, allowing for a 20 to 80% charge in around 30 minutes. Finally, the One Pedal function allows the car to be slowed down when coasting, taking advantage of regenerative braking, to make driving in traffic smoother.
The Twingo E-Tech Electric remains faithful to the philosophy that made the model an icon of freedom and creativity thirty years ago. "It's a tribute to its origins and a leap into the future," explains Fabrice Cambolive, CEO of the Renault brand, perfectly summarizing the spirit of the project: a simple, intelligent, and cheerful car that respects the environment, designed to make life easier and, why not, make getting around the city fun again.
