Renault 5 Turbo 3E: Here's what the 555 hp two-seater super sports car looks like

MILAN – A legend from the 1980s (like the Renault 5 Turbo and Turbo 2) is brought back to life, no longer a show car, but a fully-fledged reality. The Renault 5 Turbo, in this case, adds "3E" to its name, fully embodying the French brand's desire for innovation, boldness, and competitive spirit.
A road-legal track beast, presented at the RNLT space in Milan, boasting 555 hp and 4,800 Nm of maximum torque. Fully electric and based on an 800-volt architecture, its high-performance charging allows it to go from 15 to 80% charge in just 15 minutes, for a total range of approximately 400 km, according to the WLTP cycle.

“It embodies the best savoir faire of the entire Renault Group,” declared Elisabeth Leriche, Marketing Director of Renault Italy, “both as a Renault brand, but also in terms of Alpine technology and EV Ampère, in terms of electric capacity.”
The Renault 5 Turbo 3E is the most powerful and high-performance model Renault has ever created and offers a concentration of sportiness enclosed in a length of 4 metres, effectively creating a new category: that of compact supercars.
The idea behind the project was to revive the legendary legacy of the two 1980s models, incorporating modern technologies to bring the vehicle up to date. The principle of retro-futurism, already adopted for the redesign of the Renault 5 and Renault 4, now the Renault 5 E-Tech Electric and Renault 4 E-Tech Electric, respectively, returns.

The front of the Renault 5 Turbo 3E has the same stylistic criteria as its predecessors: square headlights, now equipped with LED technology, integrated into the bonnet ribs, a thin fascia with three central sections and additional headlights, also square.
The aerodynamic blade that caps the front bumper and the enlarged air intake on the hood help optimize aerodynamic load for perfect front-to-rear balance. For maximum airflow efficiency, the side intakes on the bumper direct air in front of the wheels, while the upper intakes on the rear fenders direct it under the headlights, behind the vehicle. The lower side intakes, on the other hand, serve to cool the braking system. One of these, on the left side, houses the battery charging port.

The two-door, two-seater Renault 5 Turbo 3E hides 20" wheels beneath its flared rear fenders, each equipped with an electric motor. The power electronics are located between them, while the battery is housed under the floor. This architecture not only offers a generous cargo volume—a unique feature for such a sporty vehicle—but also a lower center of gravity.
The Renault 5 Turbo 3E will arrive in 2027 but is already available for pre-order on the Renault website or through the dealership network. Only 1,980 units will be produced, all customizable, and of these, 1,000 have already been optioned. The starting price is 155,000 euros.
