Over 2.5 million headlights a year for Marelli of Tolmezzo

A plant of over 100 thousand m2 where more than 2.5 million lights are produced every year intended for high-end car brands: Audi, BMW, Porsche, Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, and Volvo. The company's flagship is the production of LED electronic components, supported by investments of 25 millions and from a laboratory for design and maintenance molds. Today the site employs over 850 people, with a strong impact on the Friulian mountain economy. The visit takes place in a crucial moment for Marelli, engaged in restructuring initiated by the parent company Marelli Holdings Co. Ltd, Italian-Japanese multinational in the automotive sector, owned by the American fund Kkr. The restructuring falls under Chapter 11, the US bankruptcy procedure that allows for companies to restructure their debts without ceasing business. The 45-day period for the receive better offers, which never arrived. Marelli plans to emerge from Chapter 11 in 2026 under the control of its main financiers: Strategic Value Partners, Deutsche Bank, Mbk Partners, Fortress Investment Group and Polus Capital Management. On July 24, during the second hearing at the Delaware Bankruptcy Court, Court Authorized additional $130 million in funding "debtor-in-possession", which are added to the 519 million already approved, for a total of 649 million out of 1.1 billion. This support, the company stressed, will allow Marelli to continue operations, serve customers and comply with the commitments to suppliers and creditors.
