Mercedes Amg Gt XX, the electric supercar with over 1,300 horsepower arrives: with science fiction technologies

It is called Mercedes Amg Gt XX and it anticipates the first electric car of the Affalterbach brand. Presented as a concept car, it introduces a long series of details that will arrive on the road starting in 2026 starting from the new high-performance battery developed from scratch, which allows a level of performance and resistance never seen before such as just five minutes of refueling to collect 400 kilometers of Wltp autonomy. The first series model based on the high-performance Amg.Ea architecture, it is powered by three axial flow motors for a peak power of over 1,000 kW equal to over 1,360 horsepower.

Presented in Sunset Beam Orange, the AMG GT XX concept car features a reinterpreted form of the iconic AMG-specific front grille with ten vertical slats, and the vertically arranged main headlights introduce a new style, with low beam and high beam stacked one above the other. A long list of active dynamics features, with a series of details designed to ensure the best performance. Characterized by previews such as the luminescent paint surfaces along the sides, the speakers integrated into the front headlights and the MBUX Fluid Light panel at the rear, the GT XX.
It is 5.2 meters long and introduces a series of solutions designed to ensure the best performance in every situation. One example comes from the openable alloy wheel called Active Aero Wheel. Capable of resolving the conflict between brake cooling, aerodynamic efficiency and maximum range, the 21-inch five-spoke wheel is equipped with five movable elements. When closed, these blades seal the wheel flush, thus reducing aerodynamic resistance. This improves range and reduces energy consumption. Intelligent aerodynamics ensure high driving stability in all conditions up to the maximum speed of over 360 km/h. Overall, the aerodynamic optimizations reduce both the drag coefficient and the frontal surface – contributing to both speed and range at high speeds. Despite the large high-performance tires, the drag coefficient is cx = 0.198.
The Mercedes AMG GT XX features a steering wheel similar to the one fitted on the Hypercar One. The cockpit with two integrated displays is completely oriented towards driving. Vehicle and controls are managed via two large LCD screens inclined towards the driver: a 10.25” instrument display and a 14” multimedia touchscreen. The user interface and the Mercedes Benz User Experience (MBUX) are based on the in-house Mercedes Benz Operating System (MB.OS). To keep weight down, the carbon-fiber bucket seats in the rear – including the cushions – are fully integrated into the rear bulkhead of the car.
Developed by Yasa and produced in the new plant in Berlin, the axial flux motors are significantly more compact, lighter and, above all, more powerful than conventional (radial flux) electric motors. The power density of the axial flux motors is around three times higher than that of conventional electric motors. At the same time, the motors weigh around two-thirds less and take up only a third of the space. Specifically, the peak power exceeds 1,000 kW (over 1,360 hp) with the motors integrated into two high-performance electric drive units at the front and rear. The new batteries, integrated into the platform and developed specifically for the GT XX, are based on an NCMA composition (nickel/cobalt/manganese/aluminium) and promise performance that lives up to the logo on the bonnet with a very high average charging power of more than 850 kW at 1,000 amperes over a large part of the charging curve. The high-voltage battery is centrally integrated into the structure of the “electric skateboard”. Its protective housing encloses the cell modules, all switching components and the Battery Management System (BMS), also developed in-house by AMG. Great attention to driving pleasure, with the presence of the AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive. The three electric motors, completely disconnected from each other, allow a fully variable distribution of torque between the front and rear wheels, ensuring true AMG performance.
