Martin, another step towards Brno: on track with Aprilia MotoGP at Misano on Wednesday

Jorge Martin's return to MotoGP could be near. In fact, after having carried out a private test on the Montmelò circuit last week, the Spaniard, absent from Grand Prix racing since April, will take to the track again for a new test, which will take place on Wednesday 9 July in Misano. This time, on the track named after Marco Simoncelli, the outgoing champion will not ride a road bike like the Aprilia RSV4 used in the Catalan test. Martin will have the opportunity to regain confidence with the RS-GP that he will use once he returns to racing. The Italian manufacturer made this known.
This test is the result of a change to the regulations. An opening aimed at MotoGP riders who, due to injury, have missed three or more consecutive Grand Prix or have not been able to race for at least 45 consecutive days during the season. Requirements met by Martin, who will be able to benefit from a test day, making the most of three sets of tires. The objective behind this change is to gradually regain the ideal feeling with the bike. For Jorge it will therefore be an important step in his return to racing.
Martin has not raced since April, when he crashed in the Qatar GP, suffering serious consequences: hemopneumothorax and fractured ribs. Furthermore, to top it all off, the Aprilia rider had already recovered from two serious injuries suffered before starting the season. The latest medical checks have ruled out Jorge's participation in the German GP, scheduled for July 11-13. His physical recovery is good, but not yet complete. If the Misano test confirms good feelings, however, the world champion could really think about racing in the Czech Republic Grand Prix, which will be held from July 18-20 in Brno. While waiting for the final green light from the doctors, an initial response will arrive on Wednesday.
