Fat Boy Gray Ghost, Harley-Davidson launches the new limited edition

ROME - The stage of the Euro Festival Harley-Davidson, in Port Grimaud, in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, was the backdrop for the launch of the sparkling Fat Boy Gray Ghost, the fifth model in the exclusive Icons Motorcycle Collection. This new limited edition celebrates the 35th anniversary of the iconic Fat Boy, with the Gray Ghost version featuring the original Reflection finish that gives the bike a blaze of brilliant chrome. Fans of the Milwaukee brand are well acquainted with the Icons Motorcycle Collection, as each year it offers a new limited edition model that reinterprets an iconic Harley-Davidson motorcycle in a modern key. Each model is numbered and may include additional features compared to the basic version.

In this case, production of the Fat Boy Gray Ghost will be limited to 1,990 units worldwide (to pay homage to the first Fat Boy from 1990), with a base price in Italy of 32,700 euros.
“The original Fat Boy took the proportions and silhouette of the 1949 Hydra-Glide and reinterpreted them for a new generation of riders,” said Brad Richards, vice president of design and creative director, Harley-Davidson. “Those riders appreciated our post-war DNA, but were also drawn to the simplicity of contemporary industrial design.” Initially developed for a small production run, the Fat Boy has gone through three engine generations and a complete reimagining of the Softail frame, maintaining a truly unique look and style for those who want to stand out for 35 years.

The Icons Collection Fat Boy Gray Ghost model, powered by the new 101-horsepower, 171-lb-ft Milwaukee-Eight 117 Custom engine, shines like it was carved from a solid block of alloy and polished to a mirror finish. The Reflection finish is achieved through a process called Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD), also known as thin-film coating, in which a solid material is vaporized in a vacuum and deposited onto the surface of a part (in this case, the gas tank and fenders). The process happens by applying a positive charge to the solid material (an aluminum alloy) and a negative charge to the bike part, and then painting the part with a standard clear coat. Chrome side case covers complete the overall brilliant finish of the bike, which complements the gloss silver powder-coated frame. Styling cues inspired by the original Fat Boy model include a round air cleaner, yellow accents on the lower cylinder head covers, engine covers and tank console insert. The whole thing is embellished with further details, such as the leather saddle valance with laces and tassels, and the black leather tank strap with woven edge that recreate the old-style aesthetic.
3D tank badges replicate the original Fat Boy's iconic winged graphics, a commemorative tank console insert is engraved with the bike's serial number, and an Icons Collection medallion sits prominently on the rear fender. Completing the package are Fat Boy-exclusive Lakester cast-aluminum wheels and generously sized Michelin Scorcher 11 high-performance tires.
