With the arrival of summer, many Italians are planning their holidays. A popular destination for Italians is Spain , a country rich in natural beauty and rich in cultural heritage. Many choose to travel by car or motorcycle across the Iberian peninsula: some arrive directly with their own vehicle, while others rent one locally. Let's discover all the information you need to travel in Spain by car or motorcycle without the risk of fines or unexpected problems. This article was based on information from the Italian ministerial website viaggiaresicuri.it and the ACI website.

An Italian driving license and insurance are valid in Spain . Pets arriving from other countries must be accompanied by a health certificate and a rabies vaccination certificate (the animal must be vaccinated at least 30 days and no more than 12 months prior to arrival) and must be identifiable by microchip or tattoo.

These are the speed limits in force in Spain : 50 km/h in built-up areas; 80 km/h on dual carriageways within built-up areas; 90 km/h or 100 km/h outside built-up areas; and 120 km/h on motorways . Motorways are toll roads: you can pay at the toll booths either by card or cash.

The maximum blood alcohol limit for driving is 0.5 g/l , the same as in Italy. The limit drops to 0.3 g/l for those who have held their license for less than two years and professional drivers. Below are some useful contacts to keep in mind in case of an emergency:
