Drives the truck 8 km in the wrong direction on the Siena-Grosseto highway

Road disaster narrowly avoided in province of Grosseto where the driver of a lorry travelled 8 km on the wrong lane of the Siena-Grosseto highway, going the wrong way. The Highway Police, alerted by the motorists, reached him and stopped him at the height of the Paganico junction, after preventive maneuvers to put in safety of drivers of other vehicles. At the wheel was a 44 year old man from Tunisia, with a valid driving license. He was transporting building materials from Northern Italy to Sicily. The breathalyzer was negative. According to what rebuilt, the driver would have taken the wrong exit previous one, that of Civitella, where he took the direction right, southbound, but on the northbound carriageway, where vehicles they are going in the opposite direction to him. It happened around 6.30 at a time when commuter traffic from Grosseto is still heavy towards the interior and towards Siena is still scarce. A motorist he raised the alarm to the Highway Police, allowing an intervention timely. The truck was not seized but the 44 year old was driving license revoked.
