New Renault Clio: photos, design, price... what does the French people's favorite car look like?

The Clio saga continues and shows no signs of stopping. Thirty-five years after the birth of the small city car that would go on to win over the French for a long time, the manufacturer of the best-selling French car of all time – nearly 17 million units sold worldwide – unveiled the sixth-generation Clio on September 8, 2025, in Munich.
Despite its continued success – the Clio remains the best-selling car in France in 2025 – the diamond brand has made the bold choice to completely transform its best-seller. "Supercharged" in the words of Renault , the new Clio has radically changed its look. Lengthened, redesigned, enriched with new engines and technologically updated, will it be able to attract new customers while maintaining its (immense) base? Let's discover the sixth-generation Clio.

- The Clio has never been so big. While it was 3.70m long when it was released in 1990, the city car will now measure 4.12m. This is almost 7 centimeters longer than the Clio 5 and, above all, it is closer to the Megane E-Tech, 4.20m long, the Renault which is now only produced in an electric version. While the height has changed little, going from 1.44m to 1.45m, the track has been widened by 4 centimeters at the front (1.77m). Longer yet more compact, the Clio takes on the appearance of a sedan.

- The Clio's face has changed considerably. The grille, adorned with a multitude of diamonds, is particularly prominent, while the lighting signature, with very thin headlights and much more visible daytime running lights at the ends of the bumper, changes the look of the Renault. The curves of the hood that converge towards the grille contribute to the city car's sportier design.

- The rear of the new Renault Clio hasn't been neglected by the designers. With its steeply sloping roofline, sloping rear window, sculpted trunk lid, small wing, and spoiler, the Clio adopts a coupe-like style. Like the front, it adopts a new lighting signature with four small headlights reminiscent of certain sports car models.

- Inside, the dashboard is adorned with new materials with a textile-covered section in front of the passenger (depending on the trim level) which incorporates an ambient light source backlit by LEDs (48 colors to choose from!). The two 10.1-inch screens overlook the dashboard with the touchscreen facing the driver. The Clio is clearly moving upmarket from a technological point of view with the OpenR multimedia system with integrated Google, around a hundred available applications and no fewer than 29 driving aids on the high-end trim level.

The end of diesel was already a done deal, and going 100% electric wasn't in Renault's plans, as it already has two fully electrified models in the B segment: the R5 and the R4. There was some uncertainty about whether it would simply abandon a combustion engine, but that won't be the case. Among the four available engines, a 115-hp 1.2 TCe 3-cylinder will be offered as the entry-level model.
Hybridization will nevertheless be dominant, notably with the new 160 horsepower E-Tech full hybrid engine that will top the range. With a combined fuel consumption measured under 4 liters (3.9) and a record CO2 emission of 89g/km, this new engine, which already powers the Captur and Symbioz models, is more efficient than the old 145 horsepower full hybrid offered on the Clio 5. A 120 horsepower dual-fuel gasoline-LPG version will be added to the catalog at a later date.
When will the Renault Clio 6 be released?Presented on September 8 at the Munich Motor Show, the new Renault Clio, manufactured in Turkey at the Bursa plant, will be available to order from October. The first deliveries of the city car will take place in early 2026.
What is the price of this new Clio?Renault hasn't yet revealed pricing for the sixth-generation Clio, but it's already a given that it will cost more than its predecessor. While the current city car starts at €16,900, the future Clio, in its petrol version and base Evolution trim, is expected to cost around €20,000. Hybrid models will obviously be more expensive.
