Italy's Francesco Bagnaia will start from pole for the sprint race and the Czech Republic Grand Prix in the MotoGP class after setting the fastest time in qualifying on Saturday ahead of his Spanish Ducati teammate Marc Marquez and Frenchman Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha).

Bagnaia, currently third in the championship, had to go through Q1 to qualify for the final part of qualifying and then benefited from the crash of championship leader Marc Marquez on the final lap of that session. The Italian thus secured his first pole position of the season.
