Spaniard Marc Marquez (Ducati) took pole position for the Aragon MotoGP Grand Prix after setting the fastest time in qualifying on Saturday at the Motorland Aragon circuit in Alcaniz.
The world championship leader, who has been very comfortable since the start of the weekend, beat his brother Alex Marquez (Ducati-Gresini) and the Italian Franco Morbidelli (Ducati-VR46) by 260 and 280 thousandths of a second respectively.
The six-time world champion, at his home track on the Aragonese track where he has won six times in ten GPs in his career, will be the big favorite in the sprint race on Saturday and the GP on Sunday.
Marc Marquez, who has won three of the first four Grands Prix of the season, has seen victory slip away from him in the last three Sunday races and will be looking to regain victory to escape in the championship standings.
Frenchman Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha), who had secured the last three pole positions but expected to suffer in Aragon, will start in ninth position.
