Bison Futé predicts significant traffic jams starting this Friday, July 18, for the third weekend of summer vacation departures.
"There will be a lot of holidaymakers on the roads, especially on Fridays and Saturdays," the public body states.
This Friday, vigilance is particularly important in the direction of departures, warns Bison Futé. The day is classified as red across the entire metropolitan area for departures and mainly green for returns.

"Traffic is expected to be very heavy towards the Atlantic coast (A10, A11 and A63), the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region (A75, A7, A46 and access to the Mont Blanc Tunnel) and the Mediterranean coast (A8 and A9)," warns Bison Futé. Traffic also promises to be complicated until "late in the evening" around the Île-de-France region.
In terms of return journeys, the main areas of concern concern the Mediterranean basin. The roads there are expected to be "very busy, like the A7, A8, A9, A50, and A54 motorways."
Bison Futé offers some advice for this difficult day:
- leave or cross the Île-de-France region before 10 a.m. or after 10 p.m.,
- avoid the A2 motorway, between Combles and Belgium from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.,
- avoid the A31 motorway, between Nancy and Luxembourg, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.,
- avoid the A10 motorway, between Paris and Orléans, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., between Orléans and Tours from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and between Saintes and Bordeaux, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.,

- avoid the Mont Blanc tunnel (N205), between France and Italy, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- avoid the A9 motorway, between Spain and Narbonne, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.,
- avoid the A8 motorway, between Italy and Le Luc, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.,

- avoid the A7 motorway, between Marseille and Orange, from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.,
- avoid the A54 motorway and the national road 113, between Salon-de-Provence and Nîmes, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The situation is not going to improve this Saturday. The day is once again classified as red for departures, with increased vigilance on the Atlantic coast, the center, the southeast quarter, and access to the Mont Blanc tunnel, warns Bison Futé.

"These difficulties are expected to begin in the early morning and end in the early evening," the public body said.
The "first slowdowns" in the Île-de-France region could appear "very early in the morning on the A10 motorway and, to a lesser extent, on the A6 motorway." The A13 motorway could also be affected from mid-morning.
For return trips, the day is classified as red in the northwest half and the Mediterranean basin. "The Mediterranean rim should be very busy (A7, A8 and A9 in particular) as well as the northwest quarter (A11 and RN165)," indicates Bison Futé.
Bison Futé’s advice for this Saturday:
- leave or cross the Île-de-France region before 5 a.m. or after 4 p.m.,
- avoid the A11 motorway, between Le Mans and Angers, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.,
- avoid national road 165, between Nantes and Quimper, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.,

- avoid the A54 motorway and the national road 113, between Nîmes and Salon-de-Provence, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
A return to calm on the roads is expected this Sunday. The entire country is green for departures, with "traffic difficulties" in the southeast quarter for return journeys.

"The main traffic jams are expected to be concentrated on the A7, A9, A54, A43 motorways and for access to the Mont Blanc Tunnel from Italy," continues Bison Futé.
For this Sunday, Bison Futé’s recommendations:
