When and where you will not be able to stop the car and keep the engine and air conditioning on

When and where you will not be able to stop the car and keep the engine and air conditioning on

Summer and high temperatures mean that every time you get in the car, you turn on the air conditioning. It's almost the first thing we do before putting on our seatbelt or getting going. Inside, especially if it's been in the sun for even a few minutes, the temperature can reach extremely high and unbearable temperatures. It's important to travel in a pleasant environment, but what if we have to wait for our companion to arrive? Or are we waiting for the kids to get out of school? Or many everyday situations like this one where we park, keep the car on, and the air conditioning on .

Well, this action is punishable by a fine of 100 euros. According to Article 46.2 of the Sustainable Mobility Ordinance of the Madrid City Council: "Anyone driving must turn off the engine from the start of parking, even if they remain inside the vehicle." The ordinance aims to reduce gas emissions when the car is stopped in a city like Madrid, with high pollution levels, even higher in summer.

The only exceptions, although equally recommended, are cars displaying the DGT ZERO sticker, vehicles intended to provide social and healthcare assistance, and those belonging to the State Security Forces and Corps, Municipal Police, Mobility Agents, Firefighters, and municipal tow trucks, as well as public transport vehicles, exclusively between May 1 and September 30.
