These are the towns where car thefts have increased the most in Spain.

Vehicle theft in Spain continues to be a high-impact problem, despite the downward trend observed in the first half of 2025.
According to data from the Ministry of the Interior's Crime Report, 15,596 thefts were recorded in the first half of the year, representing a 4% decrease compared to the same period in 2024.
This analysis, conducted by the specialized company LoJack, delves into the geographic details and variations of this phenomenon. Thus, the provinces of Madrid and Barcelona continue to be the main hotspots for vehicle theft, accounting for 40% of all thefts in the country.
With 3,328 and 3,335 stolen vehicles, respectively, the problem remains significant in both capitals, although with opposing trends: thefts decreased by 7.3% in Madrid, while they increased slightly by 0.4% in Barcelona.
Beyond the major cities, the report highlights significant variations in other areas of Spain. The province of Álava recorded the largest percentage increase, with a 96% increase in thefts, rising from 25 to 49 stolen vehicles. Significant increases were also observed in Cáceres (+44.4%), Burgos (+40%), and La Rioja (+36.4%).
On the contrary, some provinces have managed to drastically reduce the problem, such as Cantabria (-38%), Zamora (-53.3%) and Teruel (-50%).

At the municipal level, there have been very significant increases in cities with more than 20,000 inhabitants, with a significant increase in Dos Hermanas (Seville), which rose from 23 to 83 units (+260.9%); in Algemesí (Valencian Community), from 3 to 31 (+933.3%); and in Talavera de la Reina (Toledo), from 8 to 35 (+337.5%).
According to José Ignacio Rubio, general manager of LoJack Iberia , the overall theft figures remain "very alarming." "We're talking about more than 15,000 units stolen from their rightful owners, a trend that could lead us to surpass 30,000 again by the end of the year," he stated.
The analysis highlights that, despite the overall downward trend, the scale of vehicle theft remains a constant challenge that requires ongoing attention from authorities and owners, especially in high-incidence areas and municipalities where thefts have skyrocketed.
