The Morelos government wants to retain Nissan
León, Guanajuato. - The Morelos government needs clarity on the factors that motivated Nissan's decision to suspend operations at its Jiutepec plant and to insist on alternatives to maintain automotive activity in the state, said José Víctor Sánchez Trujillo, the state's Secretary of Economic Development.
Consulted at the presentation of the "Science and Technology in Society Forum (STS) 2025" , the official explained that the company has been consulted to learn about the specific challenges of the production lines that would be moved, in order to support the company.
We are waiting for the company to let us know which supply lines might be affected so we can make an impact.
"At the moment, I don't have that information; we haven't approached any companies that have any issues of that nature," he said.
He also noted that it is necessary to understand Nissan 's supply lines to measure the impact on companies that supply the automaker and thus analyze the impact on the state's economy.
Following the announcement of the relocation of Nissan operations from Morelos to Aguascalientes , Morelos Governor Margarita González Sarabia sent a letter directly to the global management, headed by Mexican Iván Espinosa.
At this time, while the Nissan executive office has acknowledged receipt, there has been no response, said the Morelos Secretary of Economic Development.
Given the vacancy of some 50 hectares of space occupied by Nissan, Sánchez Trujillo stated that there were already interested parties in occupying the site.
