The Marxa Jufré is back with a vengeance: 700 cyclists will ride the inland roads of Catalonia this Sunday.

The Marxa Jufré is back with a vengeance: 700 cyclists will ride the inland roads of Catalonia this Sunday.

This Sunday, June 1, the municipality of Santa Eulàlia de Riuprimer hosts the 12th edition of the Marxa Jufré, one of the most anticipated cycling events of the season in Catalonia.

The race will bring together between 700 and 800 cyclists, many of them from outside the country, drawn by the beauty of the route, the challenging layout, and the meticulous organization led by former professional cyclist Josep Jufré.

Routes between quiet ports and inland regions

The hike offers two options: a longer route of 154 km and 2,445 meters of elevation gain, and a more accessible route of 111 km with 1,731 meters of elevation gain. Both run through the regions of Osona, Bages, Lluçanès, and Moianès, passing through rural environments, lush forests, agricultural plateaus, and less-traveled secondary roads, ideal for enjoying cycling without stress.

Highlights include climbs such as Collada de Muntanyola, Coll de la Pullosa, Coll de l'Enclusa, and the now-famous "Dragon Khan," a technical section with gradients of up to 17% that tests both legs and the line.

The race has the last few numbers left.

A march with professional DNA

The official presentation, held last Saturday, brought together institutional representatives such as Mayor Txevi Rovira, Vic Sports Councilor Eduard Comerma, and cyclist Marta Torà, the current Spanish gravel champion, who highlighted the growing female participation in this type of event.

Josep Jufré himself, the life and soul of the event, emphasized the route's value: "It's challenging, yes, but it's also an opportunity to discover roads and landscapes that surprise with their tranquility and beauty. It's a journey into the interior of Catalonia on a bike."

Among the participants will also be illustrious names such as Melcior Mauri, Alberto Losada (formerly of Katusha), and Marc Brustenga, a professional from the Kern Pharma team.

Commitment to the territory and specialized coverage

As in previous editions, the Jufré March focuses on local products, both at the refreshment stations and in the final meal for participants, which will include fideuá, wine sausage, and gazpacho. The march also collaborates with local businesses and organizations, reinforcing its role as a local social and economic driver.

In addition, this year's event will feature press coverage from PlanetaBici, the cycling channel of lavanguardia.com , which will be present alongside Etxeondo to offer an informative look at the route, the protagonists, and the experience of cycling in inland Catalonia.

Practical information

The race will start at 8:00 a.m. from Carrer Major in Santa Eulàlia de Riuprimer. Registration is open until all available race numbers are sold out.
