Nine generations: The Audi A6 meets its predecessors

The new A6 Sedan and A6 Avant are more dynamic, efficient, and digital than ever before, offering a first-class driving experience unmatched in their segment. Both A6 models are based on the Premium Combustion Platform (PPC) and are equipped with an efficient turbodiesel engine in the Spanish market.
MHEV plus mild hybrid technology supports the combustion engine, improves performance and driving comfort, and reduces CO2 emissions.
Whether on long journeys or in the city, the adaptive air suspension and all-wheel steering ensure a smooth ride and agile handling. The new A6 models combine an elegant and dynamic design with exceptional aerodynamics and are also offered as plug-in hybrids.
Audi has produced nearly ten million premium vehicles in the upper midsize segment. The market launch of the ninth generation A6 is a great opportunity for a family photo with Audi employees presenting all generations of models in this segment.
The Audi 100 (C1 to C4) won the Golden Steering Wheel five times, was named "Car of the Year" twice, and "World Car of the Year" once. A total of 3.2 million Audi 100s were sold, underscoring the success and popularity of the series.
The Audi 100, which debuted in 1968, was a pivotal model for Audi, marking its re-entry into the executive car market. Initially offered as a two- and four-door sedan, a coupé version was introduced later in the production run, but was not available in 1968.

It featured a front-mounted, water-cooled, inline-four gasoline engine with a displacement of 1,760 cc and was offered in several power outputs: 80 hp, 90 hp, and 100 hp. It featured front-wheel drive (FWD), a notable feature for its class at the time, as many competitors were rear-wheel drive. It achieved combined fuel consumption of around 10.6 to 10.9 liters per 100 kilometers, depending on the engine and driving conditions.

The generations that followed the C1 lived up to the motto "At the forefront of technology" with numerous innovations, such as the fully galvanized body, optimized aerodynamics, and highly efficient engines. The Audi 100 has been called the Audi A6 since 1994. Audi has produced nearly ten million vehicles in the large sedan segment since 1968; the figure will rise to 9,836,762 units as of April 2025.
To create a very special photo, eight employees, each with a model from the C1 to C8 generations, gathered at Audi Piazza in Ingolstadt, in front of the mobile museum, to welcome the new Audi A6 Avant C9 to the family.
