Lando Norris wins chaotic sprint race in Miami

Lando Norris took victory in a bumpy, controversial, and unexciting sprint race at the Formula 1 (F1) Miami Grand Prix , which started late due to heavy rain at the Miami International Circuit in Florida. After nearly half an hour of waiting and two laps under the safety car, the track was cleared and the race officially got underway under the green flag.

Young Italian Kimi Antonelli, who started from pole, quickly lost the position to Oscar Piastri, who overtook him decisively, although under investigation. The stewards determined that there was no violation. This initial action set the course of the race, as the Mercedes driver's inexperience was exploited by the two McLaren drivers , Piastri and Norris, as well as Max Verstappen, who immediately gained ground.

As the track dried, the teams opted to switch from intermediate tires to slicks, which improved pace and allowed for more on-track action. However, with three laps remaining, contact between Fernando Alonso and Liam Lawson brought out the safety car, freezing the positions until the checkered flag.

Lando Norris led until the end, securing his first sprint win and leading McLaren's 1-2 with Oscar Piastri. Lewis Hamilton, now a Ferrari driver, completed the podium in third place.

Max Verstappen, meanwhile, received a 10-second penalty after a pit road incident with Kimi Antonelli, which compromised his final result. The sprint race in Miami provided excitement, incidents, and a significant morale boost for McLaren ahead of the rest of the weekend.
