Former Tesla employees develop a versatile electric motorcycle

Former Tesla employees develop a versatile electric motorcycle

Elias Juarez

The motorcycle sector has grown exponentially in recent years thanks to the electrification of propulsion systems, bringing exciting developments and opportunities for startups and small companies. One of these is Zeno, a company founded and run by a group of former Tesla employees and based in India. Its sole model, the Emara, is aimed at conquering emerging markets where motorcycles are an essential means of transportation.

Available in two versions, the Emara competes in the same segment as internal combustion motorcycles between 100 and 200 cc. Its low cost and innovative user experience promise easy and affordable riding and recharging. It is available in two versions: the standard and the ADV. Both are powered by an electric propulsion system, but have slightly different capabilities.

The standard Zeno Emara has a battery that gives it a maximum range of 100 km and is powered by an 11 HP electric motor. Despite its reduced power, it's a fairly capable motorcycle, easily handling 30-degree slopes with two people.

The electric motorcycle has a ground clearance of 190 mm and can support a weight of up to 250 kg. It features three main storage compartments, with a 100-liter rear capacity. It has four riding modes and braking power provided by dual disc brakes. It is equipped with LED lights, a 6.3-inch display, and rear, side, and knee protectors for the rider. It can be customized with a range of decorative vinyl decals.

The Emara ADV is the top of the range in the family. It features a battery with the same capacity as its smaller counterpart, but offers the option of adding an additional battery, which doubles its range to 200 km. The electric motor is also slightly more powerful, capable of generating up to 13 hp. This allows it to reach a top speed of 100 km/h, a figure more than sufficient for its segment.

Thanks to the use of 19-inch wheels, this version offers slightly more ground clearance. The wheels are linked to a reinforced suspension system that includes an inverted fork at the front, making it a versatile bike capable of handling a variety of terrain.

It also includes a series of additional features and accessories such as Bluetooth and integrated navigation and various USB ports.

Both Zeno Emara motorcycles are now available for pre-order in India. Pricing for the standard version starts at around €1,300, including the battery. The price of the ADV version and possible release dates for other markets are currently unknown. In the video attached to this article, you can see everything this silent, emission-free motorcycle has to offer.
