Jim Farley became CEO of Ford in 2020, in the midst of the pandemic. Since then, the American entrepreneur has done everything possible to restore his vehicle brand to the top of the sales ladder.

However, this is no easy task, and in one of his recent public appearances, he explained the main reason and how he envisions the future of the automotive industry. A scenario where China plays, and will play, a key role.

“It's the most humiliating thing I've ever seen. 70% of the world's electric cars are made in China. Their technology and quality are far superior. Huawei and Xiaomi are in every car,” explains Jim Farley about the advancement of electric vehicles in China.

“Your entire digital life is reflected in the car: you have an AI companion you can talk to, all the automatic payments are already there, you can buy movie tickets, the car has facial recognition, so it knows who's in which seat and what content you like...,” he explains.

Furthermore, the Ford CEO didn't hesitate to point out the reason why Europe and America don't compete with China. "Google and Apple decided not to enter the electric car business. The cost and quality of their vehicles are far higher than what I see in the West. We're in a global competition with China; it's not just about electric vehicles, and if we lose, we won't have a future at Ford," he says.
