Driver Borja Gómez dies after an accident on the Magny-Cours circuit.


Spanish motorcycling mourns the loss of one of its young talents this Thursday. Murcia-born rider Borja Gómez Rus died this afternoon at the age of 20 at the Magny-Cours circuit in Nevers, France, after suffering an accident during the first free practice session of the third round of the European Stock Championship, a series sponsored by the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) and Dorna, the promoter of MotoGP, within the JuniorGP training umbrella.
Although the details of the accident are still unknown, the San Javier-born driver's team announced his death on social media. "With deep sorrow, we regret to announce that Borja Gómez passed away on the Magny-Cours circuit after a serious accident during the first free practice session of the European Stock Championship," Team Laglisse officials wrote on the team's Instagram account. "Beyond his exceptional talent as a driver, we will remember Borja as the amazing person he was. His kindness and his smile will be eternal. We will always carry him in our hearts."
