Brand new car sales: the 10 most popular models in July

Brand new car sales: the 10 most popular models in July

Car sales continue to set new records month after month throughout 2025, and projections predict they will surpass the threshold of 650,000 registrations this year. This is despite the price increases expected in August.

The outlook is optimistic after the best first half of the year in seven years. The Association of Automobile Dealers of the Argentine Republic (ACARA) reported that this trend continues, with 388,680 units sold between January and July, representing a 71.5% increase compared to the same period in 2024, when 226,571 vehicles were registered.

Likewise, the number of registered vehicles in July reached 62,123 units , marking a year-on-year increase of 44%, considering that 43,149 units were sold last year.

This marks the fourth consecutive month with sales exceeding 50,000 units. Compared to June (52,731 units), there was a 17.8% increase.

June's winners

Toyota was once again the brand that sold the most (10,033 units), and this leadership helped it displace Volkswagen (second in July with 8,872) from the top of the cumulative ranking: the Japanese brand now leads the year with 62,761 accumulated vehicles, while the German brand has 61,740.

The Japanese brand again included three models in the top 10 for July , including the best-selling model on the entire market and the most registered pickup truck.

The third step of the podium was again for Fiat (8,286), while Renault (6,176) came in fourth place.

In turn, the automaker that grew the most in July among the top companies was Ford, which finished sixth (4,827 units) and achieved growth of 41.6% compared to June and 12.8% compared to July 2024.

Once again, imported models dominated the market (almost 65% of registrations came from vehicles not manufactured in the country): July closed with five domestically produced models as the best-sellers.

For Sebastián Beato, president of ACARA, "We're starting the second half of the year with good momentum. The momentum from the first half of the year is clearly continuing, which has allowed us to make July our best month since 2018, not even considering January, which, for seasonal reasons, is almost double the month."

The executive also emphasized that "these nearly 63,000 units are the result of economic stability, also favored by a greater availability of models and brands, and a narrowing gap between prices and wages, a combination of virtuous factors that define the decision to purchase."

According to Beato, "real opportunities to purchase a vehicle appeared with promotions, with multiple financing options from banks, zero-interest terminals, and even from the dealerships themselves."
