This is what the new BMW iX3 looks like without the sports package

The new BMW iX3 is one of the stars of the IAA—and currently the most discussed car among FOCUS online users. While the car was shown in full trim at its world premiere, the underpinnings are quite different.

Of course, all manufacturers do this with their new products at a trade fair. Nevertheless, it's always insightful to see how a base vehicle actually looks without all the extras and design trappings. The well-known BMW blog "Bimmer Today" did just that , taking a look at the base model in the BMW configurator, which is already available online – all in white and without the M Sport package or special rims. "Noticeable are the unpainted plastic surfaces on the front and rear aprons, but also worth noting is an aerodynamic detail: The drag coefficient usually deteriorates with the M Sport package because the sportier look is accompanied by increased drag, but in the case of the BMW iX3, both variants achieve an identical value of 0.24. The only color included in the base price is Alpine White; most other colors cost an additional €960," according to "Bimmer Today."

Fans of the brand have discovered another detail: Anyone wanting the maximum WLTP range of 805 kilometers will have to opt for the optional "1046 Bicolor Aerodynamic Wheels," which increases the list price by €600. However, the range with standard wheels is only marginally reduced. The current base price of the cheapest iX3 (50 xDrive): €68,900. However, the Bavarians plan to add more affordable versions soon. These will include, among other things, a smaller battery; however, the electric all-wheel drive concept will likely remain.

The BMW iX3 is the first model in BMW's electric "New Class," which will be followed by many more electric vehicles, including an electric 3 Series . BMW will also continue to produce the standard X3 in gasoline, hybrid, and diesel versions. The iX3's main competitor is the new Mercedes GLC EQ 400, which will also make its world debut at the IAA.
