On May 5, the Monday after the Miami Grand Prix, the next Formula 1 documentary will be released on Netflix – but it has nothing to do with the fan-favorite series "Drive to Survive," which already entered its seventh season in 2025: Antonelli is now getting his own documentary titled "The Seat"!
Right at the beginning of the first trailer - which, interestingly, was not published first by Netflix itself, but by Mercedes' team partner WhatsApp - Silver Arrows team boss Toto Wolff can be heard in striking words: "In F1, you can be at the top of the podium one moment - and the next you're looking for answers," says the Viennese.

Mercedes' answer to precisely those questions following superstar Lewis Hamilton 's departure for Ferrari was, as we all know, Antonelli. The 45-minute documentary about the rising star promises a behind-the-scenes look at the process of filling the gap, as well as Antonelli's spectacular yet brief practice debut at Monza in 2024, when the youngster sank his car directly into the tire wall of the Parabolica after setting the fastest intermediate times.
Antonelli on Netflix documentary: "Can't wait"In addition, private insights into the life, training, and physical and mental preparation of the 18-year-old for his first Formula 1 season are provided. Even his debut in the rain in Melbourne in mid-March is included, as a fantastic shot from the cockpit perspective reveals.

"I can't wait for the world to join us on this journey and stream the documentary on Netflix," Antonelli himself is quoted as saying in a press release. Team principal Wolff adds: "We look forward to providing Formula 1 fans worldwide with a unique insight into this process and how we got to this pivotal moment in our team's history."
Finally, Netflix is also laying it on thick, with the title adding nothing less than: "Inside the biggest driver change in Formula 1 history"...
