Race Facts: Preview Race 19

The 19th stop of the regular season on the 2025 NASCAR calendar is the Chicago Street Course, which will host a race for the third time. It is also the third of a total of six road course races this season. The Chicago Street Course in the 'Windy City' is a 2.2-mile (3.5 km) street circuit located in the city of Chicago, Illinois. The track was originally a concept track on iRacing, designed for the eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series in 2021.

The track for the Cup debut race is the exact same version used in the 2021 eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series. The start and finish line is on South Columbus Drive in front of the Buckingham Fountain in Grant Park. Cars travel south, then turn left onto East Balbo Drive, then right onto South Lake Shore Drive (also part of US Route 41), which runs along Lake Michigan. Cars then turn right onto East Roosevelt Road, then right again to rejoin South Columbus Drive, where they travel north.

Riders then return to the intersection of South Columbus Drive and East Balbo Drive and turn left. Once back on East Balbo Drive, they cross a bridge over the Metra Electric District tracks. Vehicles then turn right onto South Michigan Avenue and travel north, then onto East Congress Plaza Drive and back onto South Michigan Ave. Finally, they turn right onto East Jackson Drive, cross the Metra Electric tracks, and return right onto South Columbus Drive to the start/finish line.

Fuel window: 35-37 laps

Goodyear Tire Notes: Prime (P), Option (O)

Practice: 1 (P) Qualifying: 1 (P)

Race: 5+1/Qualifying (P)

The race distance was reduced from 100 laps to 75 laps (165 miles) after the debut race. Now, the drivers compete in three stages of 20, 25, and a final 30 laps.

Race report from the last race in Chicago (08.07.2024)

Victory Lane: The last polesetters, winners & record winners on the Chicago Street Course

Three-time Supercars champion Shane van Gisbergen won the first NASCAR Cup Series race at the Chicago Street Course in his Cup debut for Trackhouse Racing's Project 91. He is the first driver to win a race in his debut since 1963. The race had to be started late on rain tires due to persistent rain on the new track.

At times, heavy, persistent rain caused a delayed start and a race interruption at the second event in Chicago on the street circuit in the 'Windy City.' As in the previous year, the race was not completed the full distance and was shortened due to the onset of darkness. Alex Bowman took the win after completing 58 of 75 laps.
