MotoGP - Marc Marquez and Ducati laugh about MotoGP defeats: Crisis, what crisis!?

Jorge Martin, Enea Bastianini, Marco Bezzecchi, and the Pramac team: Ducati suffered significant losses ahead of the 2025 MotoGP season. However, this did not change the dominant performance of the red team from Borgo Panigale. Ducati claimed all the victories, podium finishes, and pole positions in the first four race weekends of 2025. Only in Jerez did a rider from another manufacturer, Fabio Quartararo, break the red team's dominance.
As so often happens, the 'ketchup bottle principle' then kicked in: When something happens, everything happens at once. The next two pole positions also went to Quartararo, and with Johann Zarco (Honda) at Le Mans and Bezzecchi (Aprilia) at Silverstone, two consecutive victories were not won by Ducatists for the first time since autumn 2022. Had Quartararo not been tragically eliminated from the British GP , even Ducati's now 74-race streak of at least one Desmosedici on the podium would have ended.
Two consecutive MotoGP races without a win: Ducati in crisis!?Before last weekend's Aragon Grand Prix, it was clear: Ducati must have fallen into a deep crisis. That was at least the (of course, not serious) tenor in the MotoGP paddock. The competition had certainly correctly assessed the successes of the previous races. "Le Mans and Silverstone were two weekends with treacherous conditions. While Silverstone was dry and not as unpredictable as a flag-to-flag race, where the right strategy usually wins, Sunday had complicated weather conditions. The wind affected the front tire. The six Ducati riders still have an advantage," Bezzecchi said on Thursday .
"The last two Sundays have not been normal, but rather a bit strange," Marc Marquez admitted ahead of the Aragon GP. Nevertheless, the MotoGP superstar couldn't resist a quick jab at all the critics after the race at Motorland. MotoGP released a video from the 'Unseen' series on its website, showing Ducati's celebrations on Sunday evening . While pouring champagne, Marquez joked to his crew: "What was that about Ducati? They say we're in crisis!?" The entire crew burst into laughter. The eight-time world champion then raised a toast and laughed again: "To this victory, we're in crisis!"
Marc Marquez laughs: Catch me if you can!Marquez had celebrated his last GP victory almost two months earlier in Qatar, meaning he had to wait a relatively long time for his fourth win of the current calendar year. In Aragon, however, he struck back with even greater dominance, setting the fastest lap ever recorded at the MotoGP circuit on the third-to-last lap. This, too, was a topic of conversation during the Ducati celebrations in the parc ferme. "I could have had more at the end," laughed Marquez, addressing team boss Gigi Dall'Igna . "I wanted to show that I was there, that I could have had more. To provide a bit of adrenaline." Crew chief Marco Rigamonti responded: "It was as if you were saying, 'Come on, get me if you can!'"
"Catch me, catch me, and then we'll see what happens," Marquez himself was in a joking mood afterward. After two Grands Prix without a win, there's certainly no bad mood in the Ducati camp. And yet, despite all the jokes, Marquez knew how to correctly assess his success in Aragon – one of his signature tracks – right there and then. "I can do it here, we'll see at Mugello," he replied to his crew chief.
At Mugello (June 20-22), Marquez has only won once in his MotoGP career: in the 2014 season. Otherwise, he suffered narrow defeats against the Ducatisti, Jorge Lorenzo, and Yamaha. But now, riding a Desmosedici himself in 2025, only Francesco Bagnaia will likely be able to stop Marquez. The Italian has won his home race three times in a row. Can he score his fourth win in Aragon after successfully overcoming the crisis? Share your predictions in the comments!
