High society isn't what it used to be either. In the 1950s, it was considered rude to even ask about the engine power of a Rolls-Royce. "Sufficient" was the polite but reserved reply. Enough, in other words, to set themselves apart from the automotive mainstream in the foreseeable future. The new manufacturers from China don't have much time for understatement. Instead of gradually sugarcoating their luxury brands with the stardust of the super-rich, the beautiful, and the famous, they're going full throttle. Almost 1,000 hp presses the back deep into the nappa leather when the Denza Z9 flexes its muscles: triple-digit acceleration in three and a half seconds from a standstill. The acceleration is astonishing, at least for an automotive fortress with a curb weight of almost three tons.
