"Everyone wants to go home": Dörr-McLaren disqualified after mishap!

"Everyone wants to go home": Dörr-McLaren disqualified after mishap!

(Motorsport-Total.com) - An unfortunate mishap for the Dörr team: The two McLarens of Timo Glock and Ben Dörr were disqualified on Sunday because the team had packed up their equipment too early! Removing the impact wrenches from the pit stop is considered a violation of the Parc Ferme regulations and will result in disqualification.

The Dörr team was fast - but not during the pit stop, but when packing Zoom

"In the heat of the moment, the guys had already dismantled the pit stop equipment," admits Technical Director Robin Dörr in an interview with Motorsport-Total.com . "Due to the regulations, the equipment is subject to parc ferme, because we make performance pit stops in the DTM."

"That's why the disqualification is justified," says Dörr, who doesn't absolve his mechanics of responsibility: "The guys actually know that, but everyone wants to go home." However, the late race on Sunday afternoon, due to the parallel Le Mans test , was not conducive.

Technik Dörr honest: "We all make mistakes"

"Maybe that's exactly why it was forgotten. I only have humans in the team, and we all make mistakes. Fortunately, we were outside the points with both cars." While Ben Dörr finished 16th in the second race , his teammate Glock only finished 20th.

"It's obviously different when you're in the top 10 with both cars and then get disqualified for such a minor mistake. That hurts even more," says the technical director. "Now, outside the points, things just went badly."

The Dörr team has had a difficult start to the season Zoom

Nevertheless, Chief Technology Officer Dörr hopes for a lasting learning effect: "Perhaps this will be a lesson for the future, so that when we're further ahead, this won't happen again," he grins. "We have a schedule, and it's included there. Hopefully, this was the first and last time."

Dörr team boss criticizes Zandvoort BoP

The fact that Dörr and Glock were unable to score points on Sunday was also due to the Balance of Performance (BoP). After Dörr's driver, Clemens Schmid, finished fourth last year, the McLaren had to load 30 kilograms of ballast this year .

"I feel unfairly treated," said team principal Rainer Dörr in an interview with Motorsport-Total.com , particularly in light of BMW's classification . Schubert-BMW drivers Rene Rast and Marco Wittmann clinched a dominant one-two victory on Sunday .

"Everyone saw that the BoP wasn't right," says Dörr. McLaren, on the other hand, had no chance: "Nothing worked for us. The tires wore out so quickly with the extra weight. We lacked top speed; we were cannon fodder." No wonder everyone wanted to get home quickly...
